Shri Saibaba Sansthan Temple (श्री साईबाबा संस्थान, शिर्डी)
Global beacon of ‘Sabka Malik Ek’—Shraddha (Faith) and Saburi (Patience)—welcoming tens of millions to Dwarkamai and the Samadhi Mandir.
Historical Origins & Architectural Context
Constructed in 1917–1918 by Nagpur millionaire Gopalrao Buti in pink stone, housing Sai Baba’s sacred Samadhi and the lifelike Italian marble idol sculpted by Balaji Vasant Talim in 1954. Located along the Nashik–Ahilyanagar–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar highway corridor, served by dedicated rail and international air links.
Arriving in the humble agrarian village of Shirdi as a young ascetic under a Neem tree, Sai Baba spent sixty years healing the afflicted, feeding the hungry from his hand-stirred Handi, and bridging communities with the timeless truth: ‘Sabka Malik Ek.’
“श्रद्धा आणि सबुरी! जो माझ्या शिर्डीस पाऊल ठेवील, त्याच्या दुःखाचा अंत होईल—श्री साईबाबांचे अकरा वचन.”
— Shri Sai Satcharita by Hemadpant (Govindrao Dabholkar)
Cultural Significance & Enduring Legacy
Inside Dwarkamai, the sacred Dhuni fire lit by Baba himself continues to burn uninterrupted more than 108 years after his Mahasamadhi on Vijayadashami in 1918.
Operates the world’s largest solar-powered Prasadalaya serving 50,000+ free meals daily, alongside super-specialty charity hospitals and educational campuses. Preserves the perpetually burning Dhuni lit by Sai Baba over a century ago (source of sacred Udi), the grinding stone used to cure cholera, and the Neem tree of Gurusthan.
